Shannon Davis

NCBTMB

Donna graduated from San Jose state in 1997 with a BS in Occupational Therapy. She worked in the rehab unit at General Hospital for 5 years before beginning her private practice. For the past fifteen years she has been treating patients with both chronic and acute pain. For example: repetitive stress injuries, post surgical pain, sports injuries, post traumatic pain, myofascial pain, chronic fatigue, rheumatoid and osteoarthritis, and pain related to pregnancy.

In addition to being a licensed OT, Donna is also a Certified Massage Therapist specializing in Myofascial Therapy and having trained under Eric Dalton, Tom Myers, and John Barnes. Donna treats her patients primarily with manual techniques such as Myofascial Release Therapy, soft tissue mobilization, deep tissue massage and trigger point therapies.  She also provides training in stretching and exercise programs and, when needed, ergonomic education.

Donna treats all of her patients from an OT perspective. She does an initial evaluation where she learns about how an individual is functioning in their lives and why they have pain. Do they have balance in work, exercise, leisure and daily activities? What is their ergonomic setup? Are they using good body mechanics? Do they have increased stress? Has there been traumatic event in their lives? She then developes a treatment plan that is designed for that individual with the goal of improving function and decreasing pain.
